The World Forum for Women in Science 2022 is a substantive component of the International Conference on WISWB. With the theme “Building A Gender Inclusive Sustainable Future through Science, Technology and Innovation,” the Forum continues to champion the Global Agenda 2030 on Sustainable Development Goals with a special focus on Gender Equality (SDG 5). Development for all can be enhanced by harnessing knowledge and application of science, technology and innovation through creativity, awareness and impact on social issues towards the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls at all levels.
The Forum focuses on the topics of Research Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Partnership. Within Research Leadership, it is important for women scientists to continuously cultivate strategies grounding in academic leadership and mentorship within organizations and with stakeholders. Fundamental, Applied, Action and TranslationaI Research need to be innovative and appropriate for the local context. Innovation can then be sustained by understanding the elements of appropriate ecosystems to support research entrepreneurship especially through partnership with communities and society at large.
The interlinkages between the topics will provide a rich analysis with policy implications. The Forum provides the necessary space to highlight the role of science in building a sustainable future for all through science, technology and innovation. The Forum brings together scientists, students, practitioners, industrialists, journalists, and policy makers, among other key stakeholders in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
